  1. Hi. Marrett. I am the estate administrator of several famed BC artists: LORA ARMBRUSTER,Langley (specializing in Flowers of Canada); Ingeborg Raymer,Burnaby (specializing in Figurative Art,Life Drawing), Frank Darling,Vancouver (B.C. Wild Life & Landscape), plus many others. I have an interesting proposal….Selling local artwork, local perspective & local subjects through your charitable organization (website & Annual Art Gala), whereby buyers can receive tax benefit from their purchases. Estate will contribute 50% of sales proceeds to your association on a continuing basis. I was browsing through local websites of Floral Societies & was impressed by your vision & endeavor in helping our local communities through discarded flowers. I think this may be a natural extension of your colorful concept for art collectors, institutions, interior designers & townhome developers. Though this enlightening process, these “discarded” artworks can be elevated to wonderful blessings for everyone involved.

  3. Hi! I live in Madison Wisconsin and often see homeless people on the street. Seeing them asking for change, meals, or worse yet just sitting in despair, I’ve wanted to help them but I haven’t been sure a dollar here or there would do much. I was thinking of trying to create an entrepreneurial opportunity for the homeless so they can develop a source of income as well as discover something they can get involved with.

I was driving home today and thought about a time I recently spoke with a homeless man while with my girlfriend, and thought it would be great to give to both of them by giving her flowers and paying the man for them! I was thinking of starting my own organization- Home Sweet Home, to sell flowers and other small, simple items throughout the year (ex. Hot chocolate or candy canes in the winter because it’s cold in Wisconsin). I googled if anything already existed and found your site!

My name is Alex and I think your organization has a lot of potential for growth. Madison is a rather liberal college town and I think would be very accepting/supportive of this effort. I would love to help you evaluate the possibility of bringing Flowers For Food to Madison. There are many flower stores in Madison, and I estimate a health supply of willing college students wanting to make a difference.

I think it might also be interesting to explore other possible products the homeless could sell.

I’ll toss my contact info below. With your help, I believe we could make a big impact in the lives of people who need a lift up. Let me know what you think.

    Best regards,
    Alex

    Thanks,
    Karen

    1. Hello Karen,
Thank you for your interest in helping our society and cause. Yes, we are still in operation, however we are not operating at the moment. If I may suggest donating your flowers to a local seniors’ residence.
      Best wishes,
      Marrett @CFFFS

  5. I work as a bicycle courrier in Portland Oregon USA, When I’m not busy delivering I often talk to homeless people. They definitely need more things to sell and I think flowers would be a good bet. Could you help me get something started?
Do you deliver the flowers and the vendor makes the boquets. How do you determine who gets what flowers? Do you designate certain people as vendors and what responsiblities do the vendors have besides selling the flowers,
What kinds of problems come up?
I look forward to corresponding with you,
